PB Surf Shop opened at the corner of PB Drive and Mission Blvd. in the summer of 1962, right in the middle of the surf culture explosion! Fiberglass PB Surf Shop ‘pop-out’ boards from the early sixties is still in circulation today. The history of our shop is vast. It has weathered many generations, many surfers, and been an integral part of the surf culture here in San Diego for nearly 50 years. PB Surf Shop is the first surf shop, first surf school, surf camp, and first establishment to publicly teach people how to surf here in San Diego!
Needless to say, we have a reputation to uphold. The lessons we teach, the customers we interact with, and the community in which we represent ourselves are extremely important to us all; we are writing the new history of this deep-rooted shop every day.
