Pacific Beach Surf School has taught thousands of San Diego Surf Lessons and pioneered the San Diego surf camp and surf lesson programs.

We are proud to be San Diego’s Most Trusted Surf School offering a safe, fun, and memorable experience for all. Pacific Beach Surf School has been in business for more than 55 years. As a result, each year we teach more than 3,500 men, women, boys, and girls, how to surf.
The surf camp is actually a great way to make the experience of learning to surf safe, and fun. Our program is dedicated to safety and structured to provide a fun and enriching setting for youth. Our program builds the self-confidence necessary to develop into true water-women and men.

We also have the largest selection of equipment rentals and the latest surf products at the lowest price. We will help you find exactly what you are looking for. PB Surf Shop rents foam, epoxy, and fiberglass surfboards as well as bikes, skateboards, skimboards, bodyboards and more. Just remember we are not a rental shop – we are a surfer owned surf shop that rents surfboards and gear.
Our friendly staff and experienced instructors are knowledgeable watermen and women with a talent for teaching surf lessons. All our instructors maintain the highest safety certifications available. Our team is dedicated to creating authentic moments here are at Pacific Beach Surf School. We strive to make novice and experienced surfers alike smile and laugh.
Pacific Beach Surf School History
Pacific Beach Surf School is where surfing got its start in San Diego. We opened in 1962 when the surf scene was just in its infancy. Since then, Pacific Beach Surf School has been a vital part of the Pacific Beach community. The old logo still conjures up images and feelings of “Good Vibrations” and dreams of riding waves! We have a longtime association with iconic surfboard maker and former owner Gordon and Smith Surfboards. Our roots run deep in the San Diego surf scene.
The surf tradition continues
In 1993 local surfer, an open ocean prone paddler and outrigger canoe man Randy Strunk took over the reins. Currently, Randy continues to run the store that connects with both locals and visitors. PB Surf Shop is not corporate but has a home-grown family feel to it. When you come in you can sense its authenticity.
