Driving Directions
Take Interstate 5 North to the Grand/Garnet exit, or 5 South to the Balboa/Mission/Garnet exit. Follow either Grand or Garnet Avenues for about 20 blocks, and take a left turn at Mission Blvd., making sure you end up in the right-hand lane. After less than half a mile, Promenade Mall will be on your right. Make a right turn onto Reed Street, then turn left into the Promenade Mall underground garage. There is also an entrance to the garage off of Pacific Beach Drive. The surf shop and surf school are located on the Pacific Beach Boardwalk, just west of the Promenade parking garage. We offer a free validation for 2 hour parking in the garage below the Promenade Mall.
There is also street parking in the neighborhoods just east of Mission Blvd, between Reed Street and Pacific Beach Drive. Street parking can be difficult to find in the Spring and Summer so provide extra time if you plan on parking on the neighborhood streets.
More About Pacific Beach
San Diego Pacific Beach is the ideal spot to catch some waves on your surfboard or bodyboard, while children splash around in the water and build sand castles on the beach. Visitors to Pacific Beach are encouraged to try other water sports popular at the beach such as kayaking, sailing and paddle boarding. As for some physical activity on dry land, Pacific Beach has the Ocean Front Walk, which is a boardwalk that stretches parallel to the Pacific Ocean all the way from the south Mission Beach jetty up to Law Street in PB. There’s always people jogging, riding bikes, skateboarding, and roller skating all along the boardwalk. The boardwalk is lined with many shops, restaurants, and bars as well.
Just north of where our shop is located is Crystal Pier, a staple in the local scene. It’s a great place to go fishing, watch local surfers ripping, or catch a sunset. Further north past the pier, up on the cliffs above the beach there’s a park at Law Street that’s a great place for a picnic or to just hang out and enjoy the view! Even further north than that is the Tourmaline Surfing Park. It’s the first surfing park in the U.S. and was founded as a place specifically for surfers to go surf uninterrupted by swimmers. It’s mellow waves are great for beginners and longboarders.
Visit Garnet Avenue while in Pacific Beach
Garnet Avenue is another attraction in Pacific Beach, which is packed with boutiques providing everything from beach souvenirs to trendy clothing. Also on Tuesdays from 2 pm until 6:30 pm, a farmer’s market sets up at Garnet & Bayard. Visitors can taste foods from local vendors, sample smoothies, and browse local photography, art and jewelry. Garnet avenue is also the hub of the Pacific Beach nightlife scene, with many quality bars and restaurants lining the avenue just a few blocks up from the beach.
